We are a mother/daughter doula team. Rebekah (the younger member of the duo) self designs her home education. After getting to know several of her friends’ moms who are doulas, she realized that becoming a doula was a passion that was emerging in her life. As a former social worker and current student in the Self Design Graduate Institute (Masters degree program in Self Design—Building Learning Communities), Deb (the older member of the duo) embraced her daughter’s desire to become a doula. The duo is trained through DONA International.
As birth doulas, we accompany women in labor to help ensure a safe and satisfying birth experience. We draw on our professional training, knowledge, and experience to provide emotional support, physical comfort and, as needed, communication with the staff to make that you have the information you need to make informed decisions as they arise in labor. We can provide reassurance and perspective to you and your partner, make suggestions for labor progress, and help with relaxation, soothing touch, positioning, and other techniques for comfort. We are independent and self-employed. As your doulas, we are working for you not your caregiver or hospital!
We will set up a complimentary consultation session with you (and your partner if you’d like) for us to get to know each other. This is a time to ask questions and discover if we are a good fit for your journey.
We offer several packages. However the basic birth doula package includes: two prenatal visits, support throughout labor and delivery, and two postpartum visits. We can discuss additional visits and services to suit your individual/family needs.
